| About the Area
Placencia is a lovely palm fringed village
at the end of a long sandy peninsula in the south of Belize
and on the edge of the beautiful district of Toledo. The people
there are very relaxed and friendly and the village currently
boasts at least ten bars and restaurants and sandy beaches
shelving into clear blue waters.
The Southern Cayes are of the most beautiful
and unspoilt in Belize. Some of these Cayes have cabanas in
which visitors can stay. Fishing, snorkelling and canoeing
may be your fun whilst there.
At Punta Negra, close by the wonderful coral
beaches beckon and exciting jungle lined beaches run for miles.
The reaches of the two nearby rivers
are forested on either side and the abundance of wild life
including varied species of birds, iguanas and terrapin can
be easily spotted by even the most unobservant person. Southern
Belize is one of the few remaining underdeveloped frontiers
left for wildlife in the world. Its a paradise for fishermen
with lobster and shrimp being plentiful.
